Kim graduated from Massey University at the end of 1993. She has worked in both NZ and Australia with companion animals, birds, exotics and wildlife. In 2004 she became co-owner and manager of a busy practice in Wollongong, NSW with a focus on all companion species – including birds, rabbits, rodents, ferrets and reptiles. She has been a consultant vet to small private zoo collections and conservation groups, lectured to avicultural societies, mentored young vets and vet nurses and been an expert witness for the RSPCA in animal welfare prosecutions. Kim has attained membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Surgeons in Avian health, a Diploma of Professional Practice Management and is a certified Canine Rehabilitation therapist.
Kim returned to NZ in 2022 with her partner and 4 miniature schnauzers, looking for a quieter lifestyle and to be closer to her parents. She now works part-time only
